2001 CBR600 F4i I bought this bike with a salvaged title for use as a track bike. It needed very little work done to it. My first upgrades were: Clear Windscreen, Corbin Seat, Leo Vinci Carbon Fiber High Mount Exhaust, Steel Braided Brake Lines, EBC Brake Pads and a Power Commander.
After testing her out for one season of Road Racing I decided I was going to keep it as a track bike and looked for some Race Bodywork to swap out the stock and remove all the unnecessary items such as headlight, turn signals, and tail light assembly.
This is when I put together a paint scheme for the Red White and Blue Rattle Can Job. :O) I started out removing all decals and putting a white coat of primer.
Next I put a solid coat of Pearl White on all panels then mounted them on bike to mock up my pattern. (I almost wanted to keep it as is.. it looked rather sharp just like this..)
I masked off my patterns with good ol' fashion Blue Painters tape and clear plastic with a tape edge.
On the Blue Areas with the stars I cut out decals for the stars applied them then painted the blue section... then peeled off the decals to reveal the stars as pearl white.
I finished off with the red last..
Color was done and just needed to be sealed with a clear coat...
I chose to customize the bike even further by putting my screen name on the tail - also done in paint..
And this was the finished project.. I was most pleased with my results for a Rattle Can Job that took me 2 days to complete from start to finish. This was a fantastic choice for a track bike!
